Abstract

This dataset contains anonymised data collected as part of a doctoral research project examining children's experiences of eco-anxiety and the development and validation of the Eco-Anxiety Measurement Tool. The data include item responses from 11–16-year-old participants across three scales: Focus of Eco-Concerns, Functional Symptoms of Eco-Anxiety, and Emotional and Behavioural Experiences of Eco-Anxiety. The dataset supports the validation of the EAMT through exploratory factor analysis, reliability testing, and construct validity analyses.

Data were collected via self-report questionnaires administered in schools in North-East Scotland between during the academic year 2023-2024. Participants were aged 11–16 and completed measures under supervised classroom conditions. The dataset includes responses to 56 EAMT items and relevant demographic variables (age, gender, school year).

The doctoral thesis will be available on the Edinburgh Research Archive.
