This dataset forms the basis of a study in which we investigated the effect of the floating suprasegmental component (FSC), that occurs in some Nuer nouns, on the immediately preceding context. For this, we elicited nouns with and without the FSC in a number of contexts with speakers of a Lou Nuer dialect spoken in South Sudan along the Ethiopian border. A detailed description is included in DatasetNuerFSC_readme.pdf. The results of this analysis of this dataset are in included in the paper: ‘Nuer has a floating suprasegmental component consisting of quantity and tone’, which is to appear in Phonology (Cambridge University Press).
