Abstract
Encapsulated ferritins (EncFtn) are a recently characterised member of the ferritin superfamily. EncFtn are stored within encapsulin nanocompartments and together, they form an iron storage system. Here we elucidate the assembly pathway of EncFtn by studying its subcomplexes using native mass spectrometry and hydrogen-deuterium exchange mass spectrometry.
