Description

Installation and 12 minute composition by Michael Edwards. Experiencing this sound installation involves stepping into a custom-built soundproofed box (the mNAP) and listening to the twelve-minute piece I made on stereo headphones. Simple feedback on the piece can made by the participants via a custom iPad interface I programmed using MaxMSP and the Mira app.

Abstract

mNAP is a collaborative sound installation that draws attention to the problem of noise pollution in Indian cities. The project was developed during two visits to India both funded by the AHRC. The first iteration of the project was presented in Ahmedabad as part of the UnBox festival in 2014 and a subsequent version delivered in December 2015 funded by an AHRC UnBox Future Cities LABS follow on award.
