Abstract
The recording at the center of this item is a funeral song. Mayom was chief of Nyilwak in Panyikango District. He was a very powerful chief; he ruled the two parts of Nyilwak. In his time, during the rule of King Gwang (1917-1944), there was a lot of fighting among the Shilluk villages over the borders between them. Mayom was able to secure his territory and he united the two parts of Nyilwak, Tugo and Thworo.
