Revised Imposing Memory Task videos

This item contains a readme file (.txt) and four zipped folders (.zip). Each folder contains 58 video files (.avi), which were used in an experimental study of adult humans' ability to track complex metarepresentations - see the read me file for a summary of the experimental method. Within each zipped folder there are:
1) Two versions of the story, one explicit, one implicit. 2 video files total.
2) Explicit and implicit versions of 7 control questions, designed to explore understanding of complex non-mental representations (labelled C1 to C7). Each video comes in True and False versions - these are presented as two alternatives to experiment participants, who should be able to correctly identify which video depicts events compatible with the story they saw (the True video) and which is incompatible (the False video). 28 videos.
3) Explicit and implicit versions of 7 mental questions, designed to explore understanding of complex mental representations (labelled M1 to M7). Again, each video comes in True and False versions. 28 videos.

The Imposing Memory Task (IMT) has been used to study recursive mindreading ability, the ability to mentally represent the mental representations of others. O'Grady, Kliesch, Smith & Scott-Phillips, submitted, "The ease, extent, and evolution of recursive mindreading" identify several issues with existing instantiations of the IMT, and provide an alternative IMT set, featuring both explicit (i.e. narrated) and implicit (i.e. acted out) presentations of 4 stories, with associated question items to probe understanding of the complex events and mental representations featured in the stories.
