Supplementary material for A 3-D model simulation of hydrogen chloride photochemistry on Mars: comparison with satellite data

Dataset

Description

This repository contains additional figures relevant to the article "A 3-D model simulation of hydrogen chloride photochemistry on Mars: comparison with satellite data" by B. Benne et al. These figures allow to compare vertical profiles of key quantities of the Martian atmosphere studied in this work (HCl, water vapour, temperature, water ice and dust opacities) with observed profiles from ACS MIR (for HCl and water vapour), ACS NIR (for water vapour and temperature) and MCS (for water ice and dust opacities). These comparisons are made for each HCl detection of MY 34 and 35, as well as for each non-detection from ACS MIR. HCl profiles from ACS for the confirmed detections only show points where the HCl retrieval is robust. For non-detections profiles, all the retrieved points are shown. Error bars correspond to the uncertainty on the retrieved HCl VMRs, while the standard deviation refers to the variance between the retrieved profiles used to compute the mean profile. Model data correspond to the mean profile of the different quantities computed over the 5° Ls interval where the ACS observation is performed. The standard deviation related to these profiles therefore shows the variability of these quantities on this interval.
