    Description

The St Abbs Marine Station is committed to conducting independent, scientific research that helps better understanding regarding the complex issues that affect the sea and human life.

The Marine Station is located on the edge of the harbour which gives easy field access to the intertidal and inshore environment. There are several boat charter businesses operating out of St Abbs allowing further access to the environment. The Marine Station has a good relationship with the local fishing boats and fish wholesaler which allows for easy animal collection from the local environment.

In 2020, St Abbs Marine Station began a five year collaboration with the University of Edinburgh to develop the facility’s potential by conducting research, conservation and educational activities to ensure more sustainable use of the seas and marine ecosystems.
