Organisation profile

The School of History, Classics and Archaeology (HCA) comprises, as well as the subject-area communities themselves, a number of centres and research groups and our research covers a broad range of periods, themes and places.  Research interests in the School range from (but in no way are limited to) prehistoric archaeology, marine archaeology, Greek and Latin languages, Late Antiquity, material culture, economic history and cover geographical areas from Europe, East Africa, China, Brazil and beyond. As well as established scholars and early career fellows, we also have a lively community of postgraduate students and regularly host visiting scholars from around the world including the Leventis Professor of Greek whose tenure includes hosting the biennial Leventis Conference.
