Accepting PhD students in American literature (Edith Wharton and Willa Cather specifically); no longer supervising any PhD students in creative writing
Dr Allyson Stack holds a BA from Yale, an MFA from Arizona State University and a PhD in English Literature from the University of Edinburgh. She has taught literature and creative writing on both sides of the Atlantic. Her short stories have appeared in journals throughout the United States and in Britain, and her fiction has been featured on National Public Radio and fourthirtythree Audio Magazine. She has received the AWP National Director’s Prize for her issue of Alligator Juniper, and her story 'The Front' was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in 2012. Most recently, her critical work has appeared in Seductions and Enigmas: Laplanche, Theory, Culture (Lawrence & Wishart, 2014), and her novel Under the Heartless Blue was published by FREIGHT in June, 2016. Most recently her work has appeared in Imagined Spaces and Copper Nickel. She is currently working on a scholarly monograph about Edith Wharton.
