Personal profile

Biography

My research enquires into the phenomenology of marginal and special life experiences especially in relation to mental health and wellbeing. I use experience-near methods to understand people's lived experiences and personal meanings. My current research explores issues around gender, culture and ethnocentricity in theory and practice of the talking cure.

I am interested in supervising research using a phenomenological approach to explore aspects of marginal and different experience including race, culture, sexuality, male psychology and men's development.

Research Interests

My main research interest is Phenomenological Psychology, in particular the use of Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) to explore personal identity and experience. I have recently been working on men's mental health and wellbeing in relation to the talking therapies.
