Biography

Dr Christelle Robert is a career track fellow at The Roslin Institute/The University of Edinburgh. She holds two MSc degrees from the University Paris VI, in physico-chemistry and molecular biophysics. She further complemented her career path with an additional MSc in Bio-Management (ESA.BIO) and worked as a sales application engineer before enrolling in a bioinformatics training at Pasteur Institute (France). Christelle has over 15 years experience in bioinformatics with a PhD from the University of Dundee followed by two post-docs at The University of Edinburgh. She worked in the Developmental Biology department at The Roslin Institute where she developed a web resource for the macrophage research community. Christelle moved to the Genetics and Genomics department at The Roslin Institute for her second post-doc where she used computational approaches to analyse next-generation sequencing data including CAGE, whole-exome/whole-genome sequencing data with a focus on the pig genome and its annotation as well as RNA-seq technology with study of gene expression quantification in mammalian genomes and method development to rescue ambiguously mapped reads.

She has recently joined the Center for Tropical Livestock Genetics and Health as a career track fellow from the University of Edinburgh where she will further apply computational approaches to genomics, transcriptomics and metagenomics data analysis. 

Research Interests

As part of her involvement in the Center for Tropical Livestock Genetics and Health as a career track fellow from the University of Edinburgh, Christelle is interested in the application and development of computational approaches to genomics, transcriptomics and metagenomics data analysis. She has a particular interest in the impact of stress factors on the gut-brain axis in livestock species and is currently initiating collaborations in this field. Her research interests also include the effect of mental illnesses in humans with collaborators at the Center For Clinical Brain Science to investigate the changes in gene expression between neuronal progenitor cells from individuals affected by schizophrenic disease phenotypes versus healthy controls.

Current Research Interests

Christelle is interested in the application of computational approaches to genomics, transcriptomics and metagenomics data analysis and she has initiated collaborations to study the impact of stress factors on the gut-brain axis in livestock species.
