Research Interests

Liver and renal pathology, including transplantation pathology. Specific areas of current interest include the recognition of antibody-mediated rejection and the role of macrophages in determining response to injuries in allografts. Outside transplantation, interests include malignant hypertensive vascular injury and other thrombotic microangiopathies in kidney; also the diagnostic pathology of hepatocellular neoplasia - liver cell adenomas, dysplastic nodules and early hepatocellular carcinoma. In previous years I have been interested in the basic science of liver and renal cellular injury responses including regulation and dysregulation of growth arrest and DNA repair, using primary culture models.
