Biography

Carol is passionate about learning communities and is keen to avoid artificial distinctions between teaching and research. Her research/teaching focusses on the Italian Renaissance, especially Rome. Issues of institutional and religious identity and difference characterise her enquiries. Her approach is inclusive and multi-disciplinary. She lectures on Italian and Northern, Renaissance and Early Modern art, including specialist option courses on the papal court and on 'Catholic Reform' art in the sixteenth century.

Starting at the University of Edinburgh in 2012, she was head of History of Art in ECA from 2013-16. Before that, she was senior lecturer and associate dean (curriculum and awards) in the Faculty of Arts at The Open University in Milton Keynes.
