Personal profile

Biography

I am David Garcia Cava a very enthusiastic Chancellor's Fellow in the School of Engineering at the University of Edinburgh, who introduces innovation in the investigation. My main research interests are structural vibrations, structural health monitoring, damage identification, multifunctional advanced materials, composite laminated structures and condition monitoring. One of my latest research project is on the study and development of Structural Health Monitoring methodologies for reducing maintenance cost and extending the useful life of new and/or existing structures by adding value with smart algorithms for decision making. I had the opportunity to work in international projects where I combined my findings with interdisciplinary teams. I have collaborated with industry, nationally and internationally, for enabling new technologies in practical applications as well as for building on existing capability and excellence, bringing academia and business together to drive long-term economic growth and benefit society. I also have experience in lecturing and supervising final project dissertation for BEng, MEng and MSc level. I have organise workshops and conferences and I have been invited to deliver some lectures. As an individual, I have always been attracted both professionally and personally by exciting and challenging projects
