Biography

Dr Deborah Jackson is the Director of Postgraduate Research - Art (MPhil/PhD) as well as the co-Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. She is a Lecturer in Contemporary Art Theory and Practice and has taught at ECA since 2006.  

Deborah teaches in the School of Art and she supervises MPhil/PhD students and is interested in new enquiries in the areas associated with her research.

She is also a curator, writer, Visiting Lecturer at Glasgow School of Art.

Deborah was Editor for Visual Culture in Britain, a peer-reviewed journal published by Routledge (2015-21). She was co-Director of Embassy (est. 2004), an artist-run gallery in Edinburgh (2006-2008). She has also worked as Curator/Producer for the Edinburgh Art Festival, Scotland’s largest annual visual art festival. She has also works as a Curatorial Researcher at Talbot Rice, the public art gallery of the University of Edinburgh.
