Biography

Dhaneswar Bhoi, PhD, Post-Doctorate and recently awarded with 'Honorary Fellow' at Department of Sociology, School of Social and Political Science, the University of Edinburgh (UoE), UK.  He is a Lecturer (Sociology, Psychology & Research Methods), Department 'Public Health, Social Care and Social Science' at London School of Science and Technology, London, UK affilited to University of West London, London, De Montfort University-Leicester & Buckinghamshire New University, Buckinghamshire, UK.

He is pursuing his PG Certificate from University of London, UK. He has enrolled in the Fellow programme at the Advance Higher Education, UK. He has studied Public Policy Course from Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy, University of Virginia, USA and studied Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Course at the University of Michigan, USA. He has also studied Research Methods Course at the School of Oriental & African Studies (SOAS) University of London,UK

He holds hid Post Doctorate (PD) from University of Edinburgh, UK. PhD in Social Science from Centre for Social Justice and Governance, School of Social Science, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, India. He holds his M.Phil from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar National Institute of Social Sciences, Mhow, India. He studied M.A. in Sociology from Jesus and Mary College, University of Delhi, New Delhi; and, in Education from Ravenshaw University, Cuttack, India. His interests broadly lie on Public Policies, Marginalisation, Educational Equity, Access and Inclusion, Life, Education and Experiences of Dalits and Tribes of India. Before joining UoE, he worked extensively with Policy Level bodies of Government of India like, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MSJE), as well as Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD)National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) and National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi.

He has also worked at Indian Social Institute, New Delhi; TISS, Mumbai; and, Utkal University, Odisha, India for both research and teaching. He is the author of 'Caste in Everyday Life: Experience and Affect in Indian Society, Palgrave Macmillan with the subsidiary of Singer Nature in Switzerland. Having published thirty five (35) articles in different Scopus Indexed & Peer Reviewed national and international journals and edited books, Dr. Bhoi has also presented around sixty research papers at conferences of different levels worldwide. Also, he has attended twenty-five academic workshops and orientation programmes and drafted eight different reports on ‘education equity issues and suggestions. His forth coming books are: ‘Educational Privatisation and Higher Education: A Space for the Dalits’; and ‘Experiences of Dalits in Higher Education: State and Social Responses’.

Dr. Bhoi has made academic visits to various countries like, Australia, Sweden, Germany, Argentina, USA, Canada, Japan, United Kingdom, Austria, Denmark, Belgium and The Netherlands. Currently, he is the Editor of 'Delhi Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences,' India, Associate editor of 'Journal of the World Universities Forum,' USA, reviewer for 'Educational Research for Policy and Practice,' Springer, Singapore of Springer Nature Switzerland AG; Reviewer for the 'International Sociology,' Sage, USA, 'Sociology Study,' USA and 'The Oriental Anthropologist,' Sage, India. In his academic career he has been recipient of academic scholarships from University Grant Commission and Indian Council of Social Science Research, India; International Institute of Social Studies, The Netherlands; Roskilde University, Denmark and TISS, India. He is an active member at International Sociological Association, Spain; Comparative Education Society of India admitted to UNESCO International Bureau of Education, Switzerland; Academy of Business and Retail Management, UK; and, Indian Academy of Social Sciences, India.
