Personal profile

Biography

I am a professor of theoretical particle physics. I began studying theoretical physics at Trinity College, Dublin before moving to Caltech for my PhD, where I worked with Mark Wise. My research continued at the IAS in Princeton, the NBI in Copenhagen and now here in Edinburgh. I was awarded an ERC advanced grant in 2025.

Research Interests

I have broad interests, having worked on effective theories in lattice gauge theory, physics beyond the standard model, and on more theoretical issues in particle physics. For the last several years I have concentrated on scattering amplitudes and their many applications.

Teaching

I am the lecturer and course organiser for Quantum Field Theory. Previously, I taught courses on Electromagnetism and Relativity, Classical Electrodynamics, and Gauge Theories in Particle Physics.
