Biography

Elizabeth Stevenson is a Graduate of the Royal Society of Chemistry and graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a a PhD in Organic Chemistry in 1999.

She develped an interet in science communication and public engagement and became the engagement officer for the School of Chemistry, University of Edinburgh, a role which she combined with chemistry teaching for undergraduates.

She embraced the opportunity  to develop a Masters in Science Communication and Public Engagement and was appointed as Programme Director in the School (now Deanery) of Biomedical Sciences.

She has subsequently developed an online version of the programme.

My research in a nutshell

Science communication as a practice ovelaps with many other practices and one strand of my research focuses on the overlaps and synergies betwen science communication and other practices.

 

In addition, my PhD student is exploring the use of visual images in science communication.
