Personal profile


Emmanuel joined the School of Law as a Lecturer in International Intellectual Property Law in August 2016. He has LLB and LLM degrees from the University of Lagos. He also has an LLM degree in Intellectual Property and Technology Law from the National University of Singapore. He obtained his PhD degree from University College Cork. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2008 and he is a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

His research interests includes international and comparative aspects of intellectual property law. Specifically, his research explores the interface between intellectual property and other branches of international law such as international trade law, international investment law, international taxation law, and international human rights law. He teaches a course on International Intellectual Property Law which critically examines intellectual property in the context of international law. He also teaches another course on Intellectual Property and Human Rights which critically explores the interface and tensions between these two fields. These two courses broadly reflect and build on his research expertise.

He welcomes PhD proposals on topics relating to international intellectual property law especially topics that examine the interface between intellectual property and other areas of international law including, but not limited to, investment law and trade law. He also welcomes proposals on topics examining the interface and tensions between intellectual property and human rights.
