Research Interests

Social and behavioural design informatics. In particular: mixed methods behavioural measurment, social signal processing, human behaviour understanding, affective computing, design for behaviour change, and interaction design.

Evan is a Research Software Engineer in Design Informatics, where he supports innovation through design and application of data driven technologies across multiple research projects.

Evan previously worked as a research associate on the Enhance project – investigating energy usage in non-domestic settings using a living lab approach, with the aim of co-designing digital interventions that draw upon environmental and behavioural data to in order to reduce energy consumption. He also worked on the IDEAL project - developing and evaluating the HCI aspects of a domestic energy feedback system.

Evan completed his PhD within the Media and Arts Technology Centre for Doctoral Training at Queen Mary University of London. His doctoral research focused upon the use of sensor technologies (e.g. motion, physiology, eye-tracking) for understanding and enhancing non-verbal interactions between collaborating musicians. His PhD thesis can be downloaded here.
