I would welcome artists and researchers interested in working with/on distinct questions regarding: sound, psychophysics, audiology, computer music, sound performance and installation.
Florian Hecker works with synthetic sound, the listening process and the audience's auditory experience. Inhabiting the domains of performance, installation, and publications, Hecker's projects are exploring compositional postwar modernity, audiology, and psychoacoustical knowledge.
Hecker studied Computational Linguistics and Psycholinguistics at Ludwig Maximilian Universität, Munich and Fine Arts at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste, Vienna, where he received his diploma. Before joining ECA as a Chancellor’s Fellow in 2014, he thought at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he established the course Sound Creations, as part of the MIT Program in Art, Culture and Technology.

His work "C.D. – (A Script for Synthesis)", (2013) was presented at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, as part of Performa 13. "Affordance" (2013), a three-channel synthetic sound piece, was presented as part of "Soundings: A Contemporary Score", Museum of Modern Art, New York (2013). Further exhibitions and performances include those at MoMA PS1 (2015); Sadie Coles HQ, London; MD72, Berlin; "Articulação", Lumiar Cité, Lisbon; documenta 13, Kassel; "Nouveau Festival", Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris (all 2012); MIT Saarinen Chapel, Cambridge, MA; "Push & Pull", Tate Modern (both 2010).
