Current Research Interests

Agroecology - the aim of which is to promote ecologically based management strategies to increase the sustainability of agricultural production. Methods to enhance beneficial insects for both pollination and pest management are a particular focus. Current research includes the management of cover crops to enhance biodiversity and the bio-control of pyrethroid insecticide resistant aphids using parasitoids.  Designing climate change resilient systems is essential and current research focuses on the effects of drought.

My research in a nutshell

In this video Gail describes how Aphids can be serious pests of crops and forest tree species. Drought is an increasing problem is many parts of the world and aphid populations frequently increase on drought stressed plants, leading to serious yield losses.
