Hajar Mozaffar is a Senior Lecturer in Innovation within the Business School, bringing a decade of valuable professional experience to her academic role. Prior to embarking on her teaching and research career, she had years of experience in management and consultancy, specializing in large-scale IT implementation projects.
Holding a background in software engineering (BSc and MSc degrees), Hajar further expanded her academic life with a Ph.D. in Innovation and Information Systems from the University of Edinburgh Business School in 2013. Her expertise lies in the intricate interplay between Information Systems and various disciplines, including Innovation Studies, Science and Technology Studies, and Organisation Studies.
With a passion for cutting-edge topics, Hajar's current research pursuits revolve around digital transformation, digital innovation, and the significant role of intermediaries in fostering open and user innovation, particularly in the realm of artificial intelligence (AI).
Throughout her career, Hajar has been actively engaged as a researcher, Co-Investigator (Co-I), and Principal Investigator (PI) in numerous interdisciplinary research initiatives. Notable projects include the evaluation of NHS England's flagship Global Digital Exemplar (GDE) Programme, a comprehensive study on the development and assessment of the ePrescribing-based Antimicrobial Stewardship (ePAMS+) intervention for hospitals funded by the NIHR, and an exploration of the transformative impact of AI in the health and care sector.
Currently serving as the Programme Director for the MSc in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Hajar imparts her knowledge through courses focused on digital transformation and consultancy at the MSc level. Beyond academia, she has delivered impactful courses on the digital transformation of organizations to executives and leaders across diverse sectors such as healthcare, marketing, and banking.
Passionate about fostering the next wave of scholars, Hajar welcomes PhD applications, particularly those at the intersection of digital technologies, with a specific emphasis on AI, and organizational transformation. She has particular interest in qualitative studies of digital transformation of the health and care sector.
