Current Research Interests

I lecture across 5 degree programmes,  on eight undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the Univerity of Edinburgh. I was formerly Director of post-graduate programmes in Performance Psychology (2001-2013).

I have research interests and published in the areas of coping, talent, individual differences and professional development related to sport, military and music.

I have applied psychology to professional performers from international level sport to business. I currently work with the FIAInstitute Young Driver Excellence Academy and have previously worked for the Scottish Institute for Sport, British Paralympic Association team at the 1998 World Championships, various individual sports performers (e.g. track and field athletics, rugby union, swimming, windsurfing, shooting, trials riding), and have been advisor to the BBC on learning and performance.

I am a Chartered Psychologist (British Psychological Society), and a Registered Sport and Exercise Psychologist (Health Professions Council)
