Biography
I am currently working in Scotland in NHS Lothian, as an ENT consultant with an interest in head and neck cancer. I am one of 14 consultants working in a tertiary referral centre which provides cancer care for Lothian, Fife and Dumfries. MY role involves all aspects of diagnostic and therapeutic head and neck and thyroid surgery. In addition to open ablative surgery this has also included endoscopic laryngeal laser resections and open skull base resections.
Although primarily a clinical position, I am an honorary clinical senior lecturer at the University of Edinburgh, a tutor on the Edinburgh Surgical Science Qualification with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and current Clinical Lead for Head and Neck Cancer in the South East of Scotland.
I have been awarded the NRS Career Fellowship funded by the Chief Scientist Office. This award funds 2 sessions per week to dedicate to research work for NHS patients. The fellowship runs for an initial period between 2018-2021.
