Biography

James Harrison joined the School of Law as a member of academic staff in July 2007. He holds law degrees from the University of Edinburgh (PhD, LLM) and the University of East Anglia (LLB).  James teaches on a number of international law courses, including specialist courses in the law of the sea, international environmental law, and international law of the marine environment.  

James is an Annual Case Review Editor for the Journal of Environmental Law.

Research Interests

James’ research interests span several areas of international law, including law of the sea and international environmental law.  In all of these areas, he is particularly interested in the role that international organizations and international courts and tribunals play in the development of international law.  He has published widely on these topics, including two monographs, an edited collection, and a range articles in leading international law journals.
