I am a Lecturer in International Human Resource Management at the University of Edinburgh Business School. Prior to joining Edinburgh in 2019, I worked at University of St Andrews as Associate Lecturer in Management for two years. I received my PhD from Cardiff Business School in 2017.
Focusing on state-business and state-civil society relationships, my research has examined how the state’s ideology and discourse are appropriated by organisation to construct organisational identity and control employees’ subjectivity; how international relations shape national policy on foreign direct investment, and accordingly the activities of multinational corporations; and how public policy in Scotland impacts the way homelessness charities provide services and work with each other.
A key theme of my research is to explore the process and consequences of cross-sector collaborations that aim to address complex social issues. Along this line of inquiry, I am particularly interested in the study of charity, NGOs and social enterprise in the fields of homelessness and poverty alleviation. I am currently working on a research project that looks at how government agency and NGOs transfer a particular model of poverty alleviation across borders.
