The focus of Health and Care is shifting from large primary and secondary providers to the comfort of peoples’ homes, reducing the need to travel for routine face-to-face check-ups and treatment.

This fast transition, fuelled by digital technologies, has made the delivery of health and care safer, more timely, and more effective. Moreover, digital technologies have the potential to improve healthcare equity and put people at the centre of the service without compromising standard need or outcome-driven objectives.

I am Professor of Digital Health at the University of Edinburgh. I lead a team of researchers with the central vision to improve the nation's health and wellbeing by enhancing citizens' physical movement throughout their life course. We develop and deploy digital technologies, including AI-enabled wearables.
