I am an environmental scientist working at the boundary between technical and social impacts of climate change policies. I have over a decade of climate change research, consulting, and policy making experience at international and national levels within developing countries, and have been influential in the development of global policies to reduce emissions from deforestation (REDD+). I am particularly interested in the science and policy of 'Nature Based Solutions' to climate change and have a PhD from the University of Edinburgh investigating the science of 'Natural Flood Management'. In my current role as a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh I am working with the Scottish Government and other partners to help build scientific evidence on climate change mitigation and adaptation into regional land use planning in Scotland.
