Loel is a highly experienced coach and coach developer. His research interests lie in coaching and coach development in action and adventure sports. Following a thirty-year career coaching in the National Centres, for Sports National Governing Bodies in the UK and the Institute of Coaching and Performance, he now teaches at the University of Edinburgh. He holds high-level coaching qualifications in several adventure sports. His work has investigated the specifics of coaching action and adventure sports, judgement and decision in dynamic environments, including emergency response and coach development and education.
