Teaching
I am the Deputy Programme Director for the ChM in Urology online postgraduate programme delivered in partnership between the University of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. I also undertake dissertation supervision for students undertaking various MSc programmes within the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, and am the course organiser for the Evidence-based Veterinary Medicine in Clinical Practice B course, aimed at Clinical Animal Behaviourists.
Biography
Prior to joining the Edinburgh Surgery Online, I was based in the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies as the Programme Coordinator for the MSc Clinical Animal Behaviour. I have also previously lectured for many years in veterinary nursing and / or animal behaviour/welfare (Harper Adams University and the University of Bristol), and I completed a PhD here at the University of Edinburgh/Scottish Rural College (then SAC) in broiler breeder welfare. I am also a practicing Registered Veterinary Nurse and have worked (and still do) in clinical practice since 1998, predominantly within emergency and first opinion clinical environments.
Research Interests
My academic interests include: evidence-based veterinary medicine/healthcare/nursing, veterinary education and clinical governance, and I am involved with a number of external veterinary organisations (RCVS Knowledge, BSAVA, BVNA) associated with maintaining these interests.
