Personal profile
Biography
My research focuses on the intersection between critical theory and architecture. I currently have two key research projects. The first is an exploration of the limits and possibilities of repair as a design principle. In my previous work, I have sought to articulate the conditions - economic, social, and political - for realising the 'repairability' of design objects. This work has appeared in Theory, Culture & Society and The Architectural Review.
My second project is a rereading of contemporary architectural practice through the writings of Hannah Arendt. Arendt's writings on architecture and spatial politics have, in my view, been long overshadowed by those of her former teacher, Martin Heidegger. My project aims to foreground the originality of Arendt's work in this context and to articulate the spatial implications of her political concepts. This project is currently under contract with Roman & Littlefield.
My first book, Planetary Politics, is published by Edinburgh University Press (2025).
