Personal profile
Biography
I am currently working as head of Research Support Service at Scottish Longitudinal Study. I previously worked at Research Data Scotland as Data Curation Manager and developed a synthetic data strategy for Scotland.
Having previously worked as a programmer, data analyst and project manager I made a mid-life career change and re-trained in epidemiology and public health. My research interests include social and geographical mobility, cancer, and socio-economic and age-related inequalities in health. My current role is more around research support rather than research.
My PhD investigated intervention-generated inequalities in lung cancer care. This included an examination of the evidence for socio-economic inequalities in lung cancer treatment, conducting a systematic review and meta-analysis of published studies. This was followed by secondary analysis of linked routine data to determine if there were inequalities in lung cancer treatment, time to treatment, and survival in the north of England.
