Summary of Experience

I am a qualified social worker with a doctorate in public health and social policy and am currently employed by the University of Edinburgh. I have worked in a variety of roles in and around the health service for the past 20 years and have in-depth knowledge of research. I worked for over 10 years in international contexts, which has given me a good understanding of health systems in different contexts and the role that social, cultural and political forces play in shaping policy and practice.

Research Aims

My major aim is to improve evidence available for policymaking in Sri Lanka and other lower and middle in come countries in the region.I have a background in mental health and been involved in service improvement. I have an interest in intersectoral policymaking for public health and implementation of complex interventions. My research interests are in the broad contextual factors that influence both the generation of evidence and knowledge translation for policymakers.
