Personal profile

Biography

I am a specialist registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and clinical academic based at the University of Edinburgh undertaking a PhD at the MRC Centre for Reproductive Health. My research looks at the impact of chemotherapy on extracellular vesicles, small lipid-bound molecules released by cells which play an important role in cell to cell communication.

Prior to this, I was an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the University of Warwick, investigating the role of chronic endometritis in recurrent pregnancy loss.

Alongside my PhD, I am the chair of the UK Audit and Research Collaborative in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (UK ARCOG), a national collaborative of trainees in obstetrics and gynaecology who aim to delivery national audit, service evaluation and research projects. In addition to chairing the UK AROCG, I sit on on the National Trainees Committee and Academic Board of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

I have recently discussed my latest work, the provision of women's health care during COVID-19, published in the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology during a seminar hosted by the British Undergraduate Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SAgd3Y5Hnlo

Current Research Interests

I am currently undertaking an MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowship investigating the role and release of extracellular vesicles, small lipid-bound particles, in response to chemotherapy to better understand the full impact of chemotherapy.
