Personal profile

Biography

I am a Clinical Lecturer and Specialist Registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology based at the University of Edinburgh and NHS Lothian. I was appointed as a SCREDS Clinical Lecturer in 2023 and will begin as a NES/CSO Clinical Lecturer in August 2026.

My current research focuses on extracellular vesicles as a source of biomarkers for disease detection, particularly in gynaecological cancer. I am interested in how these vesicles and their molecular cargo can be used to develop earlier, less invasive diagnostic approaches and improve translation of biomarker discovery into clinical practice as well as deriving greater mechanistic understanding as to how diseases develop.

I previously completed an MRC Clinical Research Fellowship and PhD at the University of Edinburgh’s MRC Centre for Reproductive Health, where my work focused on male pre-pubertal oncofertility preservation and the role of extracellular vesicles in cellular responses to chemotherapy.

My wider academic interests span translational reproductive science, cancer biomarker discovery, and understanding how reproductive and gynaecological conditions influence fertility and long-term health outcomes.

Current Research Interests

Male infertility & development of core-outcome sets.

Female infertility and assisted reproduction.

Onco-fertility preservation and impact of cancer and cancer therapies on reproductive tissues.

Extracellular vesicles.

Biomarker development in gynaecological cancer.
