Personal profile

Biography

I am currently a Lecturer in Artificial Intelligence at the School of Informatics, University of Edinburgh; and a Visiting Research Fellow in the Department of Informatics at King’s College London. My research areas include multi-agent systems, computational argumentation, and privacy in social software.

I completed my PhD degree in Computer Engineering at Boğaziçi University, and my advisor was Prof. Pınar Yolum. My PhD research is based on ontology-based privacy management in Online Social Networks. In one direction, I have proposed an efficient algorithm to detect privacy violations in Online Social Networks. In another direction, we have used agreement technologies (argumentation and negotiation) so that agents can negotiate on privacy concerns of their users before sharing some content. Prior to taking up my post, I was a Research Associate at King’s College London in the CONSULT (Collaborative Mobile Decision Support for Managing Multiple Morbidities) project.
