Biography

Dr Nan Yu is a Lecturer/Assistant Professor at the University of Edinburgh (UoE) and an Associate Scientist at the European Organisation of Nuclear Research (CERN). He was trained at Harbin Institute of Technology (BSc and MSc in mechanical engineering), Cranfield University (PhD: plasma figuring of large optics), University College Dublin (Postdoc: precision manufacturing of medical devices), and CERN (MSCA: precision alignment and metrology). He has established academic reputation in precision manufacturing and advanced plasma technologies. In 2018, Nan received the prestigious Marie Curie International Fellowship and Irish Research Council Fellowship, and joined the International Scientific Committee of the European Society for Precision Engineering and Nanotechnology. He joined UoE in 2020 to establish his research group in digital manufacturing and teaching activities (BEng: Conceptual design and MSc: Metrology).
