Accepting PhD Students
Rachel Muers joined the University of Edinburgh in 2022 as the first woman to hold the historic Chair of Divinity. She previously held posts at the University of Exeter (2003-2007) and the University of Leeds (2007-2022). Her main research interests are at the intersections between modern Christian theology and ethics. Areas in which she has published include: the theology of Dietrich Bonhoeffer; theology and intergenerational responsibility; theology, feminism and gender; theology and nonhuman nature; Quaker theology; theology and biblical interpretation, particularly in the context of Jewish-Christian-Muslim relations; poverty and social class; and theologies of war and peace. She is currently working on a monograph bringing together her work on the contexts, voices and forms of contemporary theology.
