Roberto is a postdoctoral researcher in Health Geographies working in the Centre for Environment, Society and Health (CRESH) and SPECTRUM Consortium. His work is focused on the use of Geographic Information Systems and Cartography to explore how the physical and social environment may shape population behaviours and health. His current research is focused on the study of commercial determinants of health from a spatial perspective, particularly those related with tobacco and alcohol issues. In this commitment, Roberto analyses the availability, accessibility, and visibility of these unhealth commodities in the space, and its relation with population consumption and socio-economic and health contexts and problems.
Roberto is a geographer by background (University of Castilla-La Mancha, Spain) and holds a Master in Geographic Information Systems (University of Alcalá, Spain). He completed his PhD in Geographic Information Techonologies at the University of Alcalá (Spain). During his PhD he had the opportunity to participate in several international projects funded by the European Research Council and the Government of Spain.
