Solomon Udochi

Personal profile

I use skills in genomics, data science, geochemistry, ecology, and taxonomy to investigate the impacts of contaminants on biological organisms and ecosystems. Research areas include the impacts of metals in marine systems, in which I completed a PhD at the University of East Anglia in 2021. My background is in Animal and Environmental Biology, completing a BSc (First Class Honours, 2011) from Abia State University, where I am also employed (on leave) as a Lecturer.

In my current role as a Post Doc in the School of GeoSciences at the University of Edinburgh, we are using advanced analytical and genomic techniques to investigate the role of microbes in the development of metal tolerance in particular plant species. The project is in collaboration with colleagues here as well as in Newcastle University and Diamond Light Source Ltd.
