Jewellery related topics- contemporary and historical<br/>Drawing/Making process
Susan Cross studied at Herefordshire College of Art & Design (1980-82) on a two year General Art & Design Foundation course and gained a distinction. This was followed by a four year degree course at Middlesex Polytechnic (1982 -86) specialising in Jewellery and was awarded a first class honours.
Setting up her first studio in London following college Susan started to parallel her own practise with teaching part time firstly at Crewe & Alsager College of Arts for two years and then for a year at Southwark College of Art. In 1989 Susan re-located to Edinburgh and began teaching part-time at Edinburgh College of Art on the Jewellery & Silversmithing course.
Susan has continued to develop her practise exhibiting her work both nationally and within the international arena. Alongside a demanding exhibition schedule Susan has also been invited to initiate projects and workshops so far in Finland,India and New Zealand. In 1999 she was awarded a travel bursary by the Scottish Arts Council to visit Japan. More recently Susan was invited to South Korea on behalf of ECA to give lectures and run a masterclass at Kookmin University, Seoul.

In 1997 Susan was invited to become a Freeeman of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmith's and also the City of London.
In 2022 Susan was invited to become a Freeman of the Gold & Silver Wyre Drawers Guild.
Susan most recent notable accolade was to be a joint winner of the prestigeous Jerwood Applied Arts Award for Jewellery in 2007. This award is given by the Jerwood Foundation in recognition of excellence, innovation, commitment and significant contribution to the field of jewellery. Susan's career to date won her this title.
In 2008 Susan was invited to become an Honnorary Fellow of Hereford College of Arts and appointed a readership from ECA in recognition of her continued achievments.
Selected to exhibit a new collection of work at Collect 2022 - leading Contemporay Craft & Design Fair, Somerset House, London with Craft Scotland. Susan has also been invited for her sixth solo exhibition at The Scottish Gallery, July/August 2022.
