Dr. Magdy received his PhD in 2012 from the School of Computing at Dublin City University (DCU), Ireland. Before joining UoE, he worked for five years as a scientist at Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI). Earlier in his career, he was a research engineer for IBM and Microsoft (2005 and 2008). He has over 60 peer-reviewed published articles in top tier conferences and journals. Some of his work was featured in popular press, such as CNN, BBC, Washington Post, the Independent, Newsweek, and Daily Mail. He also has a set of 9 patents filed under his name.
