Recognised Researcher Supervisor status was awarded through the UK Council for Graduate Education professional recognition scheme. The professional recognition reflected my five-year continuing professional development focus on my postgraduate research supervision practice (2020-24), where I worked to create effective contexts for learning for postgraduate research students by integrating learning from professional reading into my professional practice. The 5000 word professional reflection for the UKCGE award covered ten key areas of PGR practice: (i) recruitment and selection, (ii) supervisory relationships with candidates (iii) supervisory relationships with co-supervisors (iv) supporting candidates research projects (v) encouraging candidates to write and giving feedback (vi) keeping the research on track and monitoring progress, (vii) supporting candidates’ personal, professional and career development, (viii) supporting candidates through completion and final examination, (ix) supporting candidates to disseminate their research and (x) reflecting upon and enhancing practice.
