Improvisation is a key process in music and for collaboration across art forms; It presents an unparalleled way to express and negotiate identity. However, diversifying improvisation is an urgent imperative, as those with protected characteristics (e.g., disability, gender, race) are underrepresented. This new and innovative research network will investigate (i) effective approaches to address barriers to participation, and (ii) consider optimal artistic and logistical strategies to achieve a fully accessible creative space.
