7T MRI to determine mechanisms of fatigue in multiple sclerosis

Project Details

Description

Fatigue is one of the most common and debilitating ‘invisible’ symptoms affecting people with multiple sclerosis (MS) but how the MS disease process causes fatigue is poorly understood, therefore limiting treatment. 7T MRI scans use a much stronger magnetic field than those used in normal hospital scanners and allow improved measurements of the effects of MS on brain structure, chemical composition and function. This project aims to understand how these brain changes relate to fatigue in MS using 7T MRI, in order to design better future treatments for people with MS.
