This project aims to develop a smart prosthetic hand that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to augment the user’s remaining ability to control their bionic limb. By harnessing a range of artificial sensors that replicate the lost sensory capability of their natural hand, and providing these inputs to our AI system, we aim to enable more intuitive prostheses for activities of daily living. It is our intent for the AI system to reduce the cognitive load required by the user for manipulating objects of differing textures, sizes and shapes.
