Research collaboration, resulting in various outputs. These include, to date, an Exhibition and two conferences funded by the Terra Foundation for American Art. The exhibition, for which FF was co-curator, was organised in collaboration with the Musee des Impressionnismes, Giverny, the National Galleries of Scotland and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, Madrid and opened in three international venues (France, UK and Spain). The catalogue, to which FF contributed as author and in an editorial capacity, was published in three languages - English, French and Spanish. The first conference on Impressionism and Politics took place in Giverny in May 2014. FF was one of two session chairs. The second conference on American Impressionism was aimed at early career scholars and was organised by FF (University of Edinburgh) in association with the National Galleries of Scotland and the Terra Foundation. The third conference on American Impressionism took place at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid and FF was one of the guest speakers.
The exhibition examined the origins of American Impressionism, the distinctions between American and French Impressionism, the reception of French Impressionism in the USA, and prompted questions about National Identity. It also introduced new audiences to a group of artists who are relatively unknown in the UK.
