AQMEN

The Applied Quantitative Methods Network (AQMeN) is led by a team of academics from eight Universities in Scotland. It is a three year project funded jointly by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the Scottish Funding Council (SFC) as part of the ESRC Quantitative Methods Initiative. Our main objective is to build capacity in the use of intermediate and advanced level quantitative methods amongst the social science community in Scotland and beyond. AQMeN now has over 1300 members with an interest in the application of quantitative methods.

The Applied Quantitative Methods Network (AQMeN) in Scotland is a network of people who have a shared interest in quantitative methods and who wish to refresh their existing knowledge or learn a range of new skills. The Network is led by a group of academics from eight of the Scottish Universities and its activities are aimed primarily at Scottish postgraduate students and academics of all levels. It also encourages quantitative researchers from other sectors, such as local and central government and voluntary organisations, and academics based outside Scotland to join.
The activities of the Network include lectures and seminars focusing on the use of specific methodological approaches in different areas of academic and policy interest; training events and master classes in a variety of intermediate and advanced level statistical techniques; support, advice and practical assistance for users of quantitative methods in Scotland; a dedicated training programme for Scottish doctoral students; development of a set of teaching materials and ready to use datasets; a variety of web resources to keep people up to date with current methods and events; and regular bulletins updating people on forthcoming events and featuring articles on interesting individuals and their research.
